Amarant Retreat is a destination where guests reconnect with all that nature has to offer, and provides a garden both sympathetic to the wilderness and temperate-rainforest. With a focus on educating guests in the philosophy of raw food, a kitchen garden was designed to demonstrate the ease of a garden-to-plate lifestyle.
A garden restoration and development such as this can only be achieved by being in 'partnership' with the client and their vision. It is essential for the evolution of the garden to be allowed to unfurl naturally, whilst still respecting the raw materials selection of the Kevin Borland architect designed (1975) buildings and surrounds.
Part of Amarant’s magic comes from the unique challenges it presents; extremes in weather, high elevation, limited growing season and extraordinary topography.
